What to Wear
Since all passengers must pass through a metal detector gate, we
suggest that you decrease your chances of triggering the alarm:
- Dress comfortably with outerwear, jacket, belt and easy to remove shoes.
- Limit jewelry to small earrings, a watch, a ring or an engagement ring and glasses.
- Wear clothing without snaps, without metal buttons or without collar buttons.
- Avoid wearing shoes with metal arches, buckles, steel shanks or tips.
- Avoid wearing a belt with a metal buckle.
- Remove all body piercing hidden before your flight.
Most belts with metal parts that can trigger an alarm; also, the only way to stop the alarm is ringing off of the belt. Please note that we always ask passengers to unfasten their seat themselves and stick the ends remote from each other.
Remember that if you trigger the alarm when passing through the
walkthrough metal detector, you will need to have other controls to the

How to prepare your luggage

Be prepared!
Remember that all passengers must pass through the security checkpoint at airports. Common courtesy and patience contribute enormously to make the less stressful and more efficient process for everyone. Here are some tips to follow:
- Make sure you have your boarding card and a photo ID handy. At some airports, the validation of your boarding pass will automatically using a reader.
- Put labels with your contact information on your checked and carry-on luggage.
- Give yourself plenty of time - introduce yourself to the security checkpoint long before the scheduled departure time of your flight, especially during peak hours (early morning, noon and early evening).
- Let empty luggage trolleys outside checkpoint.
- Not kidding and Schmooze NEVER about bombs, firearms or other weapons while you are at a security checkpoint. Depending on the circumstances, you could be accused of an offense under the Canadian Aviation Security Regulations .
- Understand the use of a hand-held scanner and a physical search.

Religious, Cultural and ceremonial
The officers have received training on common sense and courtesy they
must show when they are checking a person wearing an article having a
delicate meaning, religious or cultural.
When you enter the control area, tell the officer that you are carrying
items that are in your eyes particular cultural importance religious or
ceremonial. All of these items will be subject to individual control.
Please note that some items are sharp limits to pre-board screening (p. Ex., Daggers and swords in religious terms). Store items prohibited beyond the security checkpoint in checked baggage, unless their names are on the list of items not allowed .
You can keep your hair in the process of security screening. To expedite the process, we recommend that you remove any metal objects from your hair before passing the checkpoint.
If your hair triggers an alarm, we will conduct a physical search to find what triggered it. In most cases, you will not have to remove your hair. The physical search may be conducted in a private room if you like.
